I’m Rachel, a 24 year old English girl who lived in Austria for 6 years before moving to Dubai. I currently work as cabin crew for a well known international airline that flies all over the world. I love travelling, exploring new places and trying new food!

Does the job requirements in plane Need you to lift any thing heavy or Just push the food car with other crew while give the meal ??? Also does the job duties affect or can cause back pain coz long hour flight and all tht stuff
I Wana hear Ur honest advise as always coz I’m accepted but I think bec I have back injury and I recover from it But I ask as maybe it return again form tht kind stuff

Hi there! Yes this job does involve lifting as well – heavy containers in the galley, closing hatracks with passenger bags in, that kind of thing. Many people do suffer from back injury so please be careful!
Do you mean the food containers that the crews walk with inside the plane??
And the passenger’s bags?
What is that. Maximum weight it’s 10 kg right??

I discovered your blog and I think you would be a suitable candidate for an interview regarding my Creative Work Project – Dining experience on long-haul or ultra long-haul flights.
I am a Grad Student at SFSU and like I already said I am working on
my Creative Work Project about the dining experience on long-haul
flights with focus on economy class. In my research it is important to
get deep insights about food preparation, transportation, delivering,
serving and removing of residual waste for airlines/long-haul flights.
You, as a flight attendant, are an expert about serving in-flight meals
on airplanes. That is the reason why I would like to interview you as an
expert in that field. If possible for you, I would like to do an Skype
interview with you. If you are very busy we can do an e-mail interview
as well where I will send you some questions and you can respond to them
and if I have further questions regarding what you have respond, I hope
you have some time to respond to these questions as well.

will take 30-40 minutes of your time and if yes, please let me know for

I am new crew at Emirates and I wonder do you have time to cook for your self since your induction til now or most of time buy from resturants???
Hi there! Well since I’ve been here coming up to 3 years now, I have found a balance between cooking for myself and ordering in/eating out. During training I used to take food with me quite often. Now I usually cook if I have a bit of time off in Dubai! 🙂
Hi Rachel! I am so inspired by your blog. I was up half the night reading it and will probably be up half the night tonight too! It’s been a dream of mine for a number of years to be a flight attendant and I am now seriously thinking of perusing it. I’m now 29 years old so I hope I haven’t left it too late! My short term goal is to do two years domestic here at home in Australia, and then move on to international. I want to be working for Emirites and living in Dubai by the time I am 35. Wish me luck!

Does the crew lift heavy thing or just pushing the food Car in the plane
We are constantly lifting things, such as heavy containers in the galley. Also pushing carts in the cabin but these are not too heavy.

Discovered your blog while I was browsing to get all information I could, to fly with Emirates as a cabin crew. And your blog helped, a lot. Thank you. Got the insight. There’s one more thing which I’d like to know, and I guess you’ll be the right person to answer that. My girlfriend and I, both are experienced in the industry and are thinking of joining Emirates, but are afraid that the roster would not always be in our favour and we’ll not be able to see each other for long periods. Is there any possibility, like if we notify the rostering team that we prefer to fly to together, that they put us on the same flight, some times at least ?
Dubai is an islamic country and we both respect their culture and we’re okay having separate accommodations as long as we see each other regularly. Again, your blog helped me know and understand a lot of things, a lot better. Thanks a lot. Wish you a lot more awesome memories. Stay safe and healthy.

Hi there! I personally think if you want to make it work, you definitely can. After your 6 month probationary period you can swap onto each others flights, and if you’re both crew you can stay over at each others apartments at any time. There used to be a “buddy bid” option to bid to fly with your friends/bf/gf but unfortunately that got removed about 2 years ago. I think it’s actually easier having a boyfriend/girlfriend who is cabin crew as they understand your schedule and know how tiring it can be! 🙂

Hi there! Well you can try applying online for an assessment day, which you will be invited to if you’re successful. You may have to travel to an open day otherwise. Perhaps you can check if there any in cities a bit further away? Wishing you the best of luck! 🙂

Yes you have plenty of gyms and hotels you have access to! You will get all the info during your training 🙂

I have been few years ago to an open day with emirates in Athens,although i am from Cyprus and i haven’t been successful there. I am thinking when they come back here in Larnaca for recruitment to give it a try BUT my problem is that now i have a babe and a husband of course. Do you know any crew members that they are mothers or any tip on that?do they accept a lady with a kid?
Hi there! Hm it’s a tricky one really. The thing is they would employ you and give you a residence visa but not for your husband or baby, so you’d have to try and get them to Dubai at a later point. I’m not really sure how exactly it would work!

Yes your apartment is fully furnished including fridge, washing machine, oven, etc 🙂

Hi there! Yes we actually have a lot of Filipino crew! Currently I don’t know if they are recruiting Filipinos, your best bet would just be to keep checking back on the website. Good luck! 🙂

I am going to a open day in the UK in 2 weeks I know tattoos are not aloud but what happens if it has been lazered off is this ok? And also I do no finish my studying till September if they offered someone a job could it be delayed for a few months?

Hi there! Yes if you’ve had it layered off and it’s no longer visible then I can’t imagine that would pose a problem. One of the girls I went to the open day with deferred her joining by about 6 months so she could finish uni so it’s definitely possible! Good luck 🙂

Hi there! Hm difficult to say really but it’s usually 80-100 hours a month, hard to say in days as it varies between layovers and turnarounds.

Hi 🙂 First of all, I absolutely love your blog and your Instagram! And after spending some time thinking about it, I have now decided to apply for a job at Emirates. I was wondering whether there are any restrictions concerning physical appearance apart from height and weight? Additionally, I was wondering whether you had any experience in gastronomy when you applied and whether it is required?
Also, I am worried about the interview as I get very nervous in situations like this and I don’t want to appear shy or awkward. Do you have any tips?

Hi again I have a question that I forgot to ask you begore! Do you get paid just from the time the plane is in the air or from the time you enter and leave the plane? I just red that you fly around 80-100 hours a month so but do you have any idea how many hours you work (I mean if you count it from the time you arrive to the airport) Thanks!
